The Narrow Way
I look in the mirror, and only see the things I don't like. Its a common trap so many of us settle into on a daily basis. For me, I'm a big guy. Years of working late and eating poorly has taken its toll on my body. My past is littered with false start diets, modest successes, and collapses back to where I was before.
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results." Einstein
This is insanity. I need something to change. This past month, I've started a project on myself, to shed the pounds and mold a healthier me. My intent is to use this blog to document my progress as I go, and hopefully help generate some ideas that others may find useful. I'll tell you what I found useful, and what I didn't.
Topics I expect to cover:
- Setting Goals
- Projecting Progress
- What Diets Work
- Building Routines
- Accountability
- Retrospection of Failures
I'm sure there will be other things along the way. The main thing is to find a way to make progress sticky, to accept that I will stumble, that I will make mistakes, but that I will learn from them, one step at a time, until I achieve my goals. I'm looking for that narrower way to a healthy life.
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14
